Ford Taurus Pros
The 2009 Ford Taurus has been rated one of the safest sedans in both U.S. crash-test programs. And according to Ford, the Taurus has the most spacious interior of any large sedan and best-in-class legroom front and rear. It also stands out for having a smooth ride that's well suited for long trips. With a smooth-shifting transmission and plenty of power on tap from its 3.5L V6, the Taurus offers plenty of driving excitement as well.

Ford Taurus Model Highlights
The Ford Taurus is available in three trim levels for 2009-a new base model SE, an SEL and a top-of-the-line Limited. Taurus SE comes in front-wheel drive only, while SEL and Limited models can be specified with front-wheel drive or with a traction-oriented all-wheel-drive system. All Taurus models are powered by a 3.5L V6 engine making 263 horsepower and 245 ft-lb of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission across the range. This combination brings impressive fuel economy for a large car, with EPA ratings of 18 mpg city, 28 highway. The Taurus has an unusually versatile interior for a sedan. The back seats are split 60/40 and fold flat to expand the cargo floor, and the front passenger seat will also fold flat to accommodate narrow items up to 9 feet long. Standard conveniences on the SE include air conditioning, leather shift knob and steering wheel trim, tilt steering, remote keyless entry, and 6-way power driver's seat. The SEL adds dual-zone climate control, an in-dash 6-disc CD/MP3 changer with satellite radio, heated mirrors and automatic headlights. The top-end Limited model steps up to leather seating, heated front seats, SYNC entertainment system, adjustable pedals and an upgraded sound system. A wide range of safety features are included in the Taurus, such as AdvanceTrac electronic stability control, driver and front passenger side airbags, Safety Canopy side-curtain bags and anti-lock brakes. The steering wheel design positions the driver's front air bag far away from the driver to enhance its effectiveness. Major options include adjustable pedals, a power moonroof, a navigation system, a DVD entertainment system, Sirius satellite radio, a reverse sensing system and remote start.

Ford Taurus Model News
Ford's recent incarnation of the Taurus returns for 2009 with only a few changes. The biggest of them is the introduction of a new trim level-the base SE. Powered by the same 3.5L V6 as the other Taurus trims, it is generously equipped with such amenities as air conditioning, keyless entry, power seats and plenty more. Electronic stability control is now standard on the Taurus for 2009, and Sirius satellite radio now comes standard on SEL and Limited models. The Limited also adds the SYNC wireless communication and entertainment system as well as a universal garage door opener to its standard equipment list. Several new exterior colors grace the palette for this year.
